“Lion Grizzly Eagle Forest Sea” by LOST BiRD
so i dreamt up this philosophy
where i just don’t think twice
because every ‘life apocalypse’
somehow worked out alright
now further in this wilderness
i glimpsed a flicker of your light
that’s how i’m standing here at your door
“sunday evening blues” by LOST BiRD
[ i have just written this today. it might not be any good…. who knows. ]
LYRICS
i’m dumb just like sunday
with the blues running free
the evening comes quickly
and falls in on me
have i wasted this time?
is there more i can steal?
won’t you spill me your heart and a cup of tea
or save me your secrets
for we might meet in the morn
similar seasons
made us similarly sore
do i worry too much?
i just want to stay warm
oh this time of year, it’s this time of year that’s all
i am in over
my head and i know i can’t swim
i wonder bout the future something awful darlin’
so in these storms won’t you let me in
you know me well
so you don’t need these songs
dressed in indifference
if you can’t sing along
i’ve known for years
that expression is lost
on the ones you love,
but i won’t give up
i’m getting by here
for a while i will stay
sacrificed wealth dear
for the love of my days
so you’ll find me in orchards
not cursing the rain
as sure as night will fall,
need somewhere to lay

goodbye [ for now ]
so, when this TUMBLR first started it was called a mid-twenties crisis approximately
and then recently it has changed to be called LOST BiRD
[ which if you’ve been following is the pseudonym that i play music as these days ]
i used to live in London working an office job whilst trying to be a musician
UNTIL things fell flat…
a bad second album, a breakup, anxiety and the odd panic attack
sooooo…. i moved to New Zealand and settled in Wellington
NOW [ two years down the line from that move ]
i’m an apprentice gardener, writing songs again,
i surf waves and i play regular football,
i’ve run a half-marathon, completed a ski season, i’ve climbed a mountain
and, when all is said and done, i guess that i’m happy.
so here’s declaring that the approximate-crisis is over
[ as are my mid-twenties ]
geez… i turn 29 next month!
[ it’s scary ]
i no longer have a phone that i can take pictures with
and i can’t write lyrics/poetry/observations on-the-go
so this blog would end up just as contrived writing
[ which would probably bore your socks off ]
soooo… it seemed like a good trigger to phase myself out from here
i’ll keep singing and i hope to release another record some day
so follow me at www.facebook.com/lostbirdsings to keep track of my songs
but i’m gone from here, though i’ll leave my blog online
as a sort of diary of what i did for a few very exciting years
thanks for being great and supportive of my music and my whims
i have a lot of love in my heart for this big old world and the good souls all around me
bye for now
from
ali

Anonymous asked: Hey! I showed your new video to a friend today and I will translate you what he answered to me "the guy has a look, he can sing, he can play the guitar: I hate him. But I like it and the direction of the video is great." Yeah my friend wants to be a cinematographer, hence the last comment. Anyways your song is lovely! Good luck for everything! Your friendly neighborhood from Paris!
thank-you :) …geez, i really hope to play some shows in Paris again some day. i don’t know how unless air fares get cheaper :(
